Aka-Allegran applies a unique system for material removal. Integrated diamond abrasive is released while applying abrasive in the form of diamond suspension or diamond spray to Aka-Allegran. The result is high removal, long life and perfect planeness. Aka-Allegran is available for fine grinding with 6 - 15 µm and polishing with 3 µm.

Quick preparation

Aka-Allegran-9 introduces one-step-grinding
Aka-Allegran-9 replaces a number of grinding steps, typically P320 - P1200 with one single step.
After being prepared on Aka-Allegran-9, the samples are ready for polishing. Preparation on Aka-Allegran-9 typically can be limited to 3 - 5 min, and the samples only need to be plane grinded at P80 to P220, to be ready for Aka-Allegran-9.
If the previous preparation step was Aka-Piatto the Aka-Allegran-9 preparation can typically be reduced further in time, due to the high flatness generated by Aka-Piatto.
Any material with hardness above 150 HV can be prepared using Aka-Allegran-9.

Aka-Allegran-3 replaces polishing cloths on 3 µm
Aka-Allegran-3 replaces the typical 3 µm polishing step on textile based cloths with a unique ridgid disc polishing step.
Due to its low flexibillity all phases in your specimen is prepared intact. This means your inclusions will still be in place, your coatings will be in the same level as the base material even mineralogy samples with multiple phases are prepared easily with Aka-Allegran-3.
Aka-Allegran-3 uses much lower force than usually and requires almost no lubrication. Just use Aka-Mono or Aka-Poly suspensions or the new DiaMaxx if you prepare large samples which require a little lubrication.
Any material with hardness above 150 HV can be prepared using Aka-Allegran-9.

Rounded edge

No danger of injuring your fingers
Aka-Allegran has a rounded edge. Thus it is no longer dangerous to touch the egde like it still is on competing systems.

The magnetic discs surface stays clean and dry

The edge also makes sure the surface of the magnetic discs stays clean and dry, thus improving the lifespan of the magnetic discs. For a more in depth explanation please read further under Aka-Ronan.

Clean fingers

Perhaps the best feature, according to many users. Gone are the dirty fingers always associated with metallographic sample preparation.
Abraded material is always deposited at the edge of a preparation surface, where you get it on your fingers while changing the surface. The rounded edge of Aka-Allegran makes it possible to clean the edge, while the disc is still rotating. Keep a piece of paper towel pressed against the edge while the disc is rotating. The now clean Aka-Allegran can be lifted of, without getting dirty fingers.

One single Aka-Allegran-9 replaces many grinding papers

Aka-Allegran-9 was developed as a one-step-grinding system, replacing a number of grinding paper steps with a single step.

Preparation on Aka-Allegran-9 usually replaces between 3 and 4 pieces of grinding paper.Totally one single Aka-Allegran replaces between 1000 and 1500 pieces of grinding paper, a large reduction in waste generated.
The actual savings depends on material and equipment. Soft material and vibrating equipment wears more on Aka-Allegran-9.

One single Aka-Allegran-3 replaces many polishing cloths

Aka-Allegran-3 was developed as a replacement for textile based polishing cloths. Formulated with polymers and diamonds Allegran-3 has a very long lifespan compared with polishing cloths.
Due to low friction there is not much, if any, need for lubrication. Thus by using Aka-Allegran-3 you also save on lubricant.
The actual savings depends on material and equipment. Soft material and vibrating equipment wears more on Aka-Allegran-3.
