Clemex CIR Steel Inclusion Rating System
Steel Inclusion Rating System
What’s new with CIR 5.0:
• ASTM E45-05 (A, C, D, E) compliance
• ISO 4967 (A, B) compliance
• Open and save STG files in a New Stage Menu
• Save images during a Run
• Analyze saved images on file
Clemex CIR (Computerized Inclusion Rating) allows laboratories and steel mills to vastly
improve their productivity by automatically analyzing inclusion with impressive speed and
accuracy. Clemex CIR allows users to analyze up to 24 samples from multiple heats in the
same run within a few minutes. Clemex Inclusion Rating can analyze any size area including
the standard 160 mm² as required by ASTM and 200mm by ISO, in less than 3 minutes. See our
stage plates for more details on supported samples type.
Clemex CIR software can automatically find the physical edge of each sample to create
patterns that cover surface area. Clemex CIR also displays a multi-field map of detected
inclusions for each sample making it easier to validate results. The operator can switch
from one sample map to another quickly and easily since the positions and types of each
inclusion are in memory.
Within the same analysis, Clemex’s steel inclusion rating software detects sulfides,
aluminates, silicates, and globular oxides as well as the single globular types (ISO 4967).
Clemex CIR supports Steel Inclusion Standards such as ASTM E45-05 (A, C, D, E), ISO 4967, DIN 50602
(M, K) and JIS G 0555. See Robust Reporting Features for more details.

Intuitive Interface Design - Clemex CIR's user-friendly
interface permits operators to master the program's functionality with minimal training. Once
easy-to-follow setup procedures have been established, the system can analyze up to 24 samples
with virtually no operator intervention. After completing the run, results can be validated
using CIR's inclusion map. All six types of inclusions (sulfides, aluminas, silicates,
globulars, single globular and heterogeneous) can be identified and separated according.
1. Inclusions - Automatically locate inclusions.
2. Heats and Samples - Establish up to 6 heats for a total of 24 samples.
3. Stage - Flexible stage control to design sample patterns.
4. Results - Display accurate and repeatable results classified by heat and sample.
5. Methods - ASTM E45-05 (A,C,D,E), DIN 50602 (M,K), JIS G 0555 and ISO 4967

Robust Reporting features - The operator can view and
print reports according to any selected standard method. The Result Window allows the
operator to select areas of interest based on the ratings and validate results with a
simple click of the mouse. The Multi-Field Map also allows the operator to spot inclusions
easily and view close-ups of the affected areas. Worst fields and oversize inclusions
can be identified rapidly and easily. The operator can also remove artifacts by scrolling
on the Transfer Flyout Button from the Image Window. Results can also be exported in
either MS Excel or text file.
1. Multi-Field Map view - Locate inclusions occupying more than one field with
CIR’s multi-field map functionality. Worst fields (ASTM, ISO or DIN) can easily be identified
irrespective of their actual microscopic field location.
2. Field view - View the field location for validation.
3. Results - Print reports according to any selected standard method.

Multiple Stage Plates - Integrated stage control
functionality combined with a wide variety of sample holders can satisfy every need. Even
custom designed stage plates are available upon request. Samples can be mounted or unmounted
and can either be processed one at a time or grouped in any combination of heats with up to 6 heats
for a total of 24 samples per run.

Stage plate for 6 mounted sample
Sample origins are either set within inspection areas or automatically by the auto-detect
function. A stage for 1.25” and 1.5” (30mm and 40mm) mounted samples is used.

Unmounted samples- Stage plate for 12 unmounted samples of various lengths

Magnetic stage plate for 18 unmounted samples
