Diamond Suspensions
Mono & Polycrystalline Diamond Suspensions
Mono- and Polycrystalline 45 µm to 0.025 µm
As a result of the extended use of automated specimen preparations, diamond suspensions are the preferred medium to apply diamond today.
Diamond suspensions most be homogenious and keep the diamonds in permanent suspension. This way every drop of diamond suspension contains the same amount of diamonds, with the same grain size distribution. Only then can reproduceable preparation be carried out.
Our diamond suspensions has been developed to obtain:
· Quick preparation
· Reproduceable results
· Shortest possible preparation times
· Environmental friendly
Reproduceable results
Many factors are involved when seeking short preparation times as well as reproducibility of the preparation. Here are the ones we have in focus.
Permanently suspended diamonds
Suspensions keep the abrasives suspended in a homogenous mixture. If the diamonds were to settle out, it would cause a variation in both concentration and size of the diamonds as the bottle is gradually used, causing a variance in polishing results. Both material removal rate and surface finish would vary because the diamonds would settle out on the bottom, starting with the heavy (larger) diamonds.
Our Diamond suspension keeps the diamonds permanently suspended, insuring consistent polishing results every time.
Uniform diamonds with uniform geometry
The decisive factor in achieving uniform particle size distribution is to use uniform, almost cubic-shaped diamonds. Therefore, the presence of deviating geometry, such as needle-shaped crystals or flakes, has been minimized.
Narrow batch tolerance
Our diamonds are graded into very narrow particle size distributions with a very narrow standard tolerance. Variances are minimized from batch to batch. Take a look at our specifications.
Controlled slurring
Small particles, diamonds included, have a tendency to agglomerate if the slurry process is not conducted correctly. We inspect every batch to ensure it meets our specifications.
Quick preparation
Narrow particle size distribution
When using super abrasives like diamonds, it is important that particle size distribution has the most narrow deviation as possible. Large particles will be more abrasive and require longer preparation times in the subsequent step, and small particles will not provide the required material-removal rate, thereby prolonging the ongoing preparation step. We therefore use the most stringently graded diamond particles available.
Modern sorting technology, combined with electronic and optical quality control, ensures highly reproducible preparation results. See our close tolerance at specifications
High diamond concentration
All our diamond suspensions have a concentration of 20 ct/l. Grain sizes 0.1 µm to 3 µm are therefore up to 50 % more concentrated than competing diamond suspensions.
Even higher diamond concentration
Aka-Mono+ has an extreme diamond concentration of 40 ct/l. This 2x concentration does not double the removal rate of our normal suspensions, but in combination with Aka-Lube Clear+ a 30% reduction in preparation time is to be expected.
Environmentally friendly
Almost a skin lotion
The suspensions are formulated to be as easy on the skin as is technically possible today without compromising preparation quality.
They are water-based and use an anti-drying agent and preservation system also used in skin lotions. The carrying medium suspending the diamonds is known from shampoo.
All components are 100% biodegradable and are not expected to have an adverse impact on the environment.
Specifications
Are you getting this detailed information from you present supplier?
Diamond suspension is a technical product, and should be supplied with as detailed specifications as necessary.
We use the best sorted diamonds commercially available. Hence we have nothing against sharing this information; you will not be able to get anything better anywhere.
Our mono- and polycrystalline diamonds are sorted to the same specifications. Make your own test, what is best in you application, mono or polycrystalline?
